Hike at Mt. Falcon Open Space – May 7, 2011
Jolie and I decided the time had come for the first hike of the year, so we hopped in the car with the dogs and headed out to the east side of Mt. Falcon Open Space to do a short hike on the Turkey Trot – Castle Trail loop.
There isn’t much to report – the hike was a good 4 mile loop with decent foot (and some mountain bike) traffic. The weather was warm (hot, almost) and the dogs enjoyed the exercise without injuring any paws (Juneau did not get to test her new booties out…yet).
Most importantly, summer is here, and along with it hiking and camping season. Plans for this summer are to get Torreys done, attempt the Decalibron, and knock off a couple other 14ers if possible. I’d also like to get a weekend backpacking trip in, along with some trips to Red Rocks, plenty of lawn games, and some beer league softball.
Here’s to Summer 2011!
